Family
"Family" depicts the roles of Okie children within the families. Some families were adamant on children attending new schools to rebuild their lives in California, while some families demanded that the children stay with the clan to help provide for the family's survival. This collection provides evidence to show the expectations of children like Winfield and Ruthie, who were forced to stay close to the Joad family when they came to California. Neither of them were concerned with going to school; instead, Winfield and Ruthie either work with the family to provide extra hands, or occupy themselves with recreational activites if there is no work expected for them to contribute their efforts to.
